Bananas Foster
Prep Time: 5 minutes
Cooking Time: 10 minutes
Don't tell anyone, but this is the easiest dessert in the world to make (outside of just scooping ice cream into a bowl), and it tastes delicious. It is great for dinner parties, or a romantic dinner for two.
Ingredients
- Premium Vanilla Ice Cream (don't skimp, cheap ice cream doesn't taste the same)
- 1 banana, sliced to your liking
- 1/2 teaspoon fresh finely minced ginger root
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/4 stick real butter (about 2 tablespoons)
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 99 Bananas liquor, or other banana flavored liquor
Directions
- In a small or medium shallow pan, mix butter and brown sugar over medium high heat. It is best to put the butter in first so that the brown sugar doesn't burn.
- If needed, add more brown sugar. The butter should 'disappear' completely, resulting in a carmel-like syrup.
- Add in ginger and cinnamon, mix for about 15 seconds.
- Add in a few shots of 99 Bananas, allow to simmer for 1 minute.
- Add banana slices, cook while stirring for 2-3 minutes.
- Serve immediately over ice cream.
- For a festive occassion, you may want to consider adding some extra 99 bananas right before serving, and light the liquor table side for a stunning presentation. Only do this if you have tried it before successfully, and make sure there is a fire extinguisher within easy reach, since you are dealing with open flames. It would be quite a party foul to set a guest on fire, and would ruin an otherwise delicious dessert.
