January 9, 2008 - I was invited out to lunch again today by my boss for what is becoming the weekly Wednesday Chinese buffet. I'm not a big fan of Chinese, but I do like rice and chicken, so I'm set. In the evening I had big band practice and then D'Visitors practice. I searched for the music binder for big band for about thirty minutes before leaving for practice, but I couldn't find it. I had to make new copies when I got to practice. The past few practices were pretty lousy with this group, with only 3 or 4 people showing up. Today was great. We had a drummer, a bass, 4 saxes, 2 trombones, and 2 trumpets. It's almost there. I rushed from there to D'Visitors practice. We didn't really work on much while I was there, and I don't think they worked on much before I was there. On Friday we have 2 gigs, each 3 hours, and yet we only have 2 hours of music worked up that gets played in our sets. Inevitably we are going to have to repeat songs. It would be much better if we could keep focused on learning new material or dusting off old songs so that at the very least we don't have to repeat songs for a 3 hour gig. I stopped at McDonalds on the way home and had dinner for $2.14 - 4 mcnuggets and a small fry.
