January 20, 2008 - Ellie, Chuck, Anna, Jamie, Casey, and I were all up by 8:15 and on the road by 9. Jamie and Casey headed to Sea World while the rest of us were on our way to Epcot. This is my 5th time going to Epcot, as far as I can remember. I went as a child, then in 1997, 2004, 2005, and now in 2008. Since I had been there the most, I was the 'guide' today. The cold weather and my knowledge of where everything was got us to see basically EVERYTHING in the park today. Normally when I think about Disney, I think about everything being exactly the same as it was the last time. However, Disney apparently has been investing a lot of time/money into enhancing their attractions. In order of attraction visited, with notes of which ones were updated: Universe of Energy, Mission Control, Test Track, Mexico (updated), Norway (updated), China, America (only the Voices of Liberty are performing for the next month while they are renovating the theatre), Canada (updated), Circle of Life, Journey into Imagination, Honey I Shrunk the Audience, Spaceship Earth (updated), Soarin', The Seas with Nemo and Friends (new), Turtle Talk with Crush (updated), and capping off the night, Illuminations fireworks. That is a whole lot of new stuff to roll out in 3 years. In addition to that, Epcot had new digital signs in various places in the park indicating wait times for rides, so that at any time you could figure out where the shortest lines were and go there. I had a great time. The best part of the day for me is Illuminations. The music combined with the fireworks, lasers, water, fireballs, and other effects is an amazing display. Second place goes to the first soprano singer in Voices of Liberty. I couldn't believe some of the notes she was hitting.
