January 18, 2008 - Ken was sick today, but decided to come in anyway. He surprised me by asking me to join him for lunch. This was surprising because he said he was going to be busy all day and that he was sick, so I didn't really want to be near him to catch anything. Still, he said he needed me to go along on a service call. We ate at Cheddars, and then went to the site to find out what was wrong and fix it. After Ken popped the panel off the wall it was pretty obvious that the wire dangling off to the side that wasn't hooked up was the problem. In about 30 seconds we had wired it back up and were on our way. I had a gig after work today at the Tampa Art Museum, and had also made arrangements to buy a canoe from some guy in Tampa. I was also in charge of supplying the PA for tonights gig. I unloaded the PA and set up as much as I could, and then Ellie met up with me. She followed me to the canoe guy's house, where we paid for it and put it on top of my car. I sent Ellie home with the canoe, and then I drove back to the museum to play the gig. There were a TON of people there, but the big surprise was when my sister, Chuck, mom, and her friend Barbara all showed up. This was the last gig at the Tampa Art Museum. They are scheduled to begin demolition on February 1st, and a new museum will be erected there. I had a heck of a time loading the PA back in my car after the gig. On the setup I had a cart to move everything, but for the tear down there was no cart. This meant carrying my 70 pound speakers about 1/4 mile. My arms were sore and I was hot and sweaty, so I stopped for some Taco Bell on the way home to get some energy back.
