January 10, 2008 - Boneless Thursday! Yeow, it was hot today. I had 2 Hot BBQ, 2 Medium, and 6 Caribbean Jerks. The jerks were really hot. At home in the evening, I cleaned up the back yard a bit, getting all the leaves and debris that wouldn't fit in the trash can last week. Mike showed up just after 6:30, and we went to Surf and Turf to get some steaks for dinner. I also picked up 2 bottles of wine. I got the reliable Bohemian Highway 2004 Cabernet, and a new pick, Hahn Estates 2005 Cabernet. Everything I've read says you can't go wrong with a 2005 California Cabernet. Back at home, I got the grill fired up, and as the steaks cooked, Mike and I played a game of corn hole. He won, 21-13. The steaks were done, I made some salads and heated up the leftover shells and cheese that Ellie had for dinner. The steaks were awesome, but the real story here is the Hahn wine. It was incredible. Sometimes Cabernets can have an oaky taste, or a really strong first hit. This was smooth and delicious. It almost reminded me of grape juice, as I didn't notice the alcohol very much. I'm going to have to get a case of this stuff. Anna and Chuck came over, and then Ellie got home from her first day of class for the winter semester. Around 10:30 everything wound down and it was bed time.
