February 17, 2008 - Today I tried a new breakfast creation. Instead of my usual pancakes or waffles for breakfast, I made egg and cheese biscuits, like I would get at McDonalds, only way better. Pillsbury makes their Grands biscuits now in the freezer section, individually so that you can make just a few rather than a whole canister. I made 2 of those, and then made what was essentially a 2 egg omelet. Then I melted 2 slices of american cheese over the omelet, sliced the thing in half, and folded each piece to fit inside the biscuits. They turned out awesome. I'm not sure how much more or less expensive it was than a McDonalds version, but they were so much better. Amazing what fresh ingredients can do. Mike came over and we took the canoe out to Cliff Stevens Park to hunt for disc golf discs. We only found 1. The water is about 6 inches higher than it was a few weeks ago which hinders our ability to find discs. Back home I unloaded the car and we loaded it back up with the dogs to go to the Honeymoon Island dog beach. We got there right when Ellie's family got there. It was a big group of us, probably about 15 total, plus 4 dogs. This was my first time to this beach. They charge $5 per car or $3 per person admission to Honeymoon Island State Park, compared to the $0.85 in tolls I have to pay to get to Ft DeSoto. However, it is a lot closer, so maybe after accounting for gas it is about the same. The water was cool but we were able to walk out in it, and the water was about a foot deep for at least 50 feet out, so we could take the dogs out pretty far into the water and they were still able to walk (ie jump, shake, wrestle, splash) around. We got back home around 4 PM, showered, and went to my parents for a steak dinner with my parents, Anna and Chuck, and Aunt Roni and Uncle Jim. After dinner we went to Applebees for dessert with Ellie's family. I was full when I got home.
