February 10, 2008 - The original plan was to go look at cars with Mike today, but I had already made plans earlier this week to go to the Air Force Base with my parents for grocery shopping. We were picked up around 11 AM, and drove to McDill. McDill is great because we can buy groceries a lot cheaper than at Publix. Everything is supposedly priced at "cost", to save military families money. We bought about $200 worth of groceries for $126 after using about $25 in coupons. $126 brings the price per item down pretty close to where I used to be able to buy groceries at Kroger in Cincinnati 5 years ago. I bought 55 items, so it was just over $2 an item. I used to try to hit $2 an item on average on my grocery bill. I guess that is pretty good that I am still able to do that 5 years later. On the way home we stopped at a car dealership and looked at Chevy Aveo's. It looks like there might be some good deals for Presidents Day weekend, so we are going to wait it out a bit and see what kind of options we can get by then. When we got home it was already about 3 PM, so we unpacked all the groceries, and then eventually went to St Jerome's for church. Then we went to my parents for dinner. Eventually we went home, and Ellie did her homework while I watched The Patriot on DVD. It was a 2.5 hour movie, but a very good movie nevertheless. It's been a while since I've watched one this long.
