April 27, 2008 - A full day today. I started out Sunday with my usual weekly clipping of coupons from the paper, and then called up my cousin Mike to play some disc golf. He wanted to play Maximo, so we headed down to St Pete for a round. Some guy named Charlie was playing by himself in front of us, and when we went to pass him (we play extremely fast), he asked if he could join us. He ended up keeping up with our pace, but complained about how fast we play. Mike bought Firehouse Subs for lunch for us, and then we walked over to Summerfest at Largo Central Park. The name of the festival is very misleading and confusing, since it is still Spring, not Summer. Are we supposed to be celebrating the coming of Summer? Did they move it up a few months because the weather in the summer keeps people from coming out of their air conditioned homes? On the walk home I got a call from Kenny telling me that the sound check we had planned for 5 PM was being moved up to 3 PM at Janus Landing and that I had to get there right away. I was planning on going to the dog park with Ellie but that had to be scrapped for the sound check. So what happened when I got there on time? Well, let's just say that we did our sound check at 5:20 PM. I ran home after that to shower and get dressed, and then got back down at the stage around 8:30 PM. For this gig I was playing with the Basiq's, who were being backed up by an assortment of members of Gwan Massive. We were one of three opening acts for the Talib Kwalee, a hip hop artist. Our set went great, and then after being bored by the first few songs by Talib, I headed home after a long and tiring Sunday.
