Throughout the year I was reassigned several times at work, as I got moved into positions that required an extra special eye on improvement.
I started the year off by looking at homes so that I could move out of my sisters 'garage turned into a bedroom', and found a really nice old house in the city of Largo, within walking distance of the small downtown. I spent the rest of the year putting in a new front walkway, putting on a new roof, building a recording studio, working on the yard, and making all kinds of repairs and improvements.
This was probably the most uneventful year for traveling, but I still got a few fun trips in. Ellie and I drove to Cincinnati in June, passing through 10 states. Then later in the year we went to Charlottesville, Virginia, for my cousin Derek's wedding.
I got really busy musically during the summer and then again at the end of the year, playing with D'Visitors, Bird Street Players, Bonnie Gray/Heatwave, and occasionally filling in with Tribal Style and Gwan Massive.
My cousin Mike rekindled my interest in disc golf, and we went out on any sunny day we could to play a round. I lost lots of discs, but we had lots of fun playing Taylor Park, our home course, as well as coureses in Clearwater, St Pete, Orlando, Brooksville, and Floral City, all in Florida. While I was in Cincinnati, I took Ellie out to a few of my favorite disc golf courses, Mt. Airy, Banklick, and Pride Park.
Ellie and I went out to Orlando to check out two puppies, Border Collie / Lab mixes. They were brother and sister, and we couldn't refuse them once we saw them. It has been an interesting and expensive experience so far with them, as they got all their shots and tore up our back yard. I've never seen two dogs that love to dig in the dirt as much as these guys. They've grown from 7 pound innocent puppies into 55 pound bounding dogs that have too much energy that I haven't been able to exhaust yet.
I ended the year with a major life change, proposing to Ellie on Christmas Eve. She accepted, and we're taking our time planning out a wedding. Now that I'm armed with a fiancee, two dogs, a new house, I'm looking forward to another great year in 2008.
