June 9, 2007 - We woke up at our hotel in DC and continued on to Savannah. This leg is the longest drive of the trip. Google maps says that it should be about 9 hours. The other legs were all around 8 hours. We got a fairly late start, but traffic wasn't so bad, getting us into Savannah around 4 PM. We drove from the hotel to downtown, following the map that the trolley uses, so that we would get the same tour, for free. Maybe it was the lack of rain recently which caused everything to look a little browner and less vivid than the last time I was here. Maybe it was the 102 degree heat. Either way, I enjoyed the city, but enjoyed staying at the hotel more in the air conditioning. It was just too hot today. I went to bed pretty early tonight, to prepare for the final leg back to home.
