June 8, 2007 - Ellie and I woke up at Rob's apartment and walked with Rob to the metro station "nearby". It was about a mile walk. We rode with him and parted ways to do more sightseeing. We got to the Washington Monument by 9:00 AM, and were blown away to find out that all the tickets for the day had already been distributed. We then headed towards the Smithsonian museums. First up was the National Air and Space Museum. The doors didn't open until 10 AM, and by the time we got there it was only 9:40. We waited outside, and the crowd grew. We spent a few hours looking at spaceships and satellites and planes and then it was time to get lunch. Next up was a walk to the capitol building. We got tickets for a tour that started at 2:45, so we used the time before then to tour the National Conservatory and the National Museum of Natural History. The capitol tour took us into the rotunda, then to another room next to the rotunda, and then downstairs. We didn't get to see the House or the Senate chambers. At this point Ellie was worn out from walking so we took the metro back to Rob's house and drove the car to our hotel near Ronald Reagan Airport. Ellie didn't have anything left in her to walk around more, so we ended up finding a nearby pizza place and then went to bed fairly early.
