June 2, 2007 - Ellie and I started our weeklong vacation early in the morning, departing from Largo at 5:30 in the morning. We drove through a lot of rain, seeing 7 cars on the side of the road in wrecks as we passed from Florida into Georgia. We got into Atlanta around 1:30 PM and met up with Tiffany Johnston. We took her out to a late lunch at a sandwich place nearby, and then went downtown to the Coke Museum. I felt like we were in a big commercial the whole time we were there. The highlight was finding out that I got a bottle of coke on my way out the door. We got to try a lot of different coke products from around the world, but most of them were not very good so I enjoyed the free coke bottle more. We walked to the nearby Olympic Park, home camp for the 1998 Atlanta Olympics. It started to rain while we were there, so we didn't stay long. We got in the car and drove around town a bit, stopping by the capitol building. This building is pretty visible from I-75 because of its golden dome. I had seen it from the highway many times, but had never been up close to it until now. From there we went out to a small town called something like "Little Five". It was something like Northside in Cincinnati, just a strip of eclectic stores and restaurants, without the influence of big box or chain stores. We got back in the car and drove to an Irish Pub for dinner. After dinner Ellie was worn out, so she stayed home, while Tiffany and I went to a friends of hers house for a small party that was in progress. The party consisted of people alternating between watching the Stanley Cup and playing Guitar Hero on their Playstation 2. We drove home and I went to bed around 12:15.
