March 11, 2006 - I had a boring day around the house until the evening, when I departed for Ulmer Park to run a 5k. I was hoping Lauren was going to run with me, but she turned down every appeal I made for her to join me. I ran it by myself. As the race time approached I started getting really nervous about how I was going to finish. I knew I was capable of running on a treadmill in under 21 minutes, but that my mile time as of the past few weeks had gone up to around 9 minutes, which would be about a 28 minute 5k. When the gun blew to start the race, I started at a good pace, and when I made it to the finish the time was 24:40. Not too bad...I could have gone faster at some points, but I was definitely winded at the end. I was disappointed that there were no split times at each mile through the race. I like knowing what my pace is, but I guess I could have worn a watch if I wanted to know that badly. I went immediately to my parents house for a hamburger for dinner, went home to shower, and then went to a party with Lauren. I got to meet her good friend Shelly, and a bunch of other people at the party. Good times.
