January 15, 2006 - I had my one day of serious work today, playing lots of music and working at the
auction. This was the first day I was able to attend the first day of the auction from the start.
There is a large group on the ship this week that reserved the Vista Lounge when we normally have
our Rockin' Road rehearsal, so we had to rehearse earlier, giving me time to eat lunch and man my
post at the auction. Later in the evening, during the second Captains Cocktail Reception, one of my
keys started sticking. I didn't think much of it because it was on the tail end of the performance,
so I made it through the songs with no one noticing. But then before Rockin' Road I tried repairing
the sticky key and it didn't do anything. In fact, it got worse the more I worked on it. After
Rockin' Road I took my sax back to my room, got out my screwdriver kit, some q-tips, and
papertowels, and tried cleaning the key and pad, but it didn't solve the problem. I'm going to have
to hope that it was a humidity issue and that it will work itself out, but if it doesn't, I'm going
to be in a lot of trouble the next time I have to play my sax.
