January 14, 2006 - My day in San Diego didn't go as bad as I was expecting, but it wasn't the perfect day. I was up in time for the 7 AM full crew immigration inspection. These 'inspections' are really stupid. They have you stand in line, you get handed your passport, you show the passport to the inspector, and then you drop your passport back in a box. I just can't see what they are doing that is worthwhile. I went up to breakfast after that, which marks the first time I've made breakfast in San Diego since the first week I got on the ship. I wasn't able to get off the ship until about 9:30, which is when I headed towards the library. I didn't get my calls returned from Lauren until 10, because she wasn't expecting me to call so early. I finally got to update my website, after almost a month of no updates, and then I headed back to the ship for the afternoon private party that I had to play at. The good news for the party was that it got moved from the back of the ship (where it was starting to rain, and where our music would have been blowing everywhere in the wind) to the Crows Nest. This definitely helped us sound better, because we can hear each other better up there. After the party there wasn't time to get off the ship again, but I did get to call Lauren one more time, and then after what seemed like a minute I had to play again at the sailaway party.
