February 3, 2006 - I was awoken to the feeling of the ship making a big turn, and it surprised me a bit, since we should be sailing north towards San Diego, with no need to make any turns. A little later the captain came on and told us that we were going back to try and help a small boat that was sending distress signals. After a while longer he came back on to tel us that everything was ok and they were being helped by another ship, but that we were going to have to sail at full speed towards San Diego because of an unrelated medical emergency on the ship. So that was how my day started. Nothing eventful happened after that. It was an otherwise typical Friday.
