February 24, 2006 - Although my countdown has always been towards February 25th as my 'last day', today is really my last day, since tomorrrow I will just be flying all day long. I didn't get particularly emotional about leaving behind a good group of friends on the ship, but I did like my send off in the Crows Nest. I went up there at the end of the night to listen to Cruise Control play one more time. I would have joined them, but my sax was already in the 'marshalling' area, waiting for me to pick it up tomorrow in the port terminal. The band takes requests via writing on napkins, delivered by the bar staff, so I filled out a request for them to play "Cinammon and Raisins or Karate Kid". The first time I heard Tilly ever say Sentimental Reasons, I thought she said Cinammon and Raisins. Karate Kid is the song "Glory of Love", famous from Karate Kid II. They performed Sentimental Reasons. I was slightly disappointed that they didn't modify the lyrics. Later in the bar several people joined me for one last glass of wine...followed by two shots of Jaegermeister I wasn't hoping to drink. The alarm is set to wake me up at 5:20 AM.
