February 21, 2006 - I'm finally getting the hang of typing out '2006' for the year. 6 is a tough number to reach, as it is a stretch beyond 5 with the left hand, but out of reach for my right hand. Another thing I'm getting the hang of is walking normally. My foot is finally starting to get back to normal. The only time it gives me pain is when I push it beyond walking. Today in the gym I did a little biking and that was fine, it was when I took a few steps on the treadmill that it started barking at me. I stopped running immediately, and I guess I will have to give it a few more days to recover. Today is my last day in Mazatlan, and I had in port manning, meaning I'm stuck on the boat, looking out the window to Mazatlan. I would have likely only have walked to the internet cafe any way, so it wasn't such a big deal. We had a general emergency alarm in the morning, so I wouldn't have been off the boat until after noon anyway. In the evening we played a sailaway set on the back of the ship. The wind was really kicking hard so I wasn't able to use my book. On top of that, Phil, the new music director, was calling the songs, and he likes to call jazz standards rather than the usual music we play for a sailaway party. Lucky for me, he called a lot of songs that I already knew, so I was ok just playing without music for most of the set. I also did a cocktail set with Cruise Control in the Crows Nest at 7:15, and then the rest of the nite was spent reading, writing, and watching the guest entertainers show.
