One of the toughest things I did this year was on April 18th. I went into the Green Iguana in Tampa because I heard there was a blues jam session. I was used to playing at a blues jam session in Cincinnati run by a friend of mine, Steve Masters, so I thought I would fit in fine with these guys. I had no idea what I was getting myself into at the Green Iguana. Dean Germain plays the B3 organ, and brings in some of the best musicians I have ever played with. At first, even though my sax was in the car, I was prepared to just leave it there and never tell them I played sax. Then something inside me made me think, if I am going to try to be a professional musician on a cruise ship, I need to be able to play in this group. I went out, got my sax out, and ended up having a great time. I then proceeded to keep coming back to the Green Iguana, and eventually got invites to join other bands. I gained a lot of friends and experience this summer in Tampa.
