January 20, 2005 - I took the advice of numerous people and went to the doctor today. I had a 9 AM appointment to get checked out for the pain in my chest. My doctor did a quick check, had some x-rays taken, and then determined that my ribs are fine, but my muscle has become separated from my rib cage, and has some inflammation. He gave me a prescription for anti-inflammatory medicine, which I'll have to take for the next 30 days. I need to ice up after playing soccer or racquetball too. This is the first time I've had a sports injury that I know of. I managed to get back to work by 10 AM for a scheduled meeting. I had LaRosas's for lunch, and then spent the afternoon reviewing my performance in 2004 with my boss, and then gave my co-op some training on regulatory agencies. Snow kept falling all day, and everyone was on edge, talking about how much might come down. In the morning, the word was that we would get a dusting to maybe an inch. By 5 it had upgraded to 2-4 inches. There was probably 4 inches on the ground when I left work at 6:15 to go to the masters recital for Janelle Reichman. Her playing was awesome, very effortless, and well thought out. I look forward to the day when I can play sax as well as she does. The recital took a lot less time than I thought it would, and I ended up at home by 7:45 PM, driving in some packed down snow. I barely made it up my driveway, so I called my landlord, who told me he was just there an hour ago shoveling and putting down salt. I cut up a red pepper for my dinner and went to Town and Country for the first soccer game of the session. I wasn't planning on playing, but we only had one guy sub, so I dressed and played a few minutes of the game. We tied, 3 -3, against a very physical team. I went home and played some euchre until about 1 AM and then went to bed.
