April 7, 2005 - I find that society has allowed the media to sensationalize everything to the point where nothing is surprising. I don't want to give any specific examples at this point, but rather speak in generalizations. High profile Cincinnatians have been getting DUI's in the recent past and I don't feel any anger or outrage that it is happening. I have never gotten a DUI, and I don't think I would ever drink so much that I would get one in the manner that these people are (where they are totally out of control, slouched over the steering wheel, with vomit on their door), but I also have probably had enough alcohol in my system to get a DUI and still driven (even though it was only 2 beers). People are doing crazy things like murdering pregnant women and taking their babies and then claiming it is their own child, going on killing sprees at school or work, etc. I feel like teh general population has been so assaulted by similar acts via movies and not done a good job of saying "that's not the real world". I don't know how we can reverse the process, but I don't think things can continue the way they are going much longer.
