March 8, 2004 – In the morning, Shawn, Anwar, and I drove to the airport, picked up a rental car from Hertz (a Mazda 6, it was pretty fun to drive), and drove to Lawrenceburg, Kentucky. We toured the manufacturing plant that makes our datacom and OVD cable. I had already been there a few years ago, but I didn’t remember everything about the plant. They have some pretty fancy automation going on, stuff that isn’t feasible in Manchester where my cable is made. I did all the driving for the trip without incident, and we got back in time for me to make a trip from my house to my apartment with a carload of stuff. The biggest excitement for me today was at 6:30 PM. I was put in the front of a firing squad and hit with bullets. The firing squad was the UC Jazz Band, and the bullets were all the notes they played. I started off somewhat unsure of what to do, since I was just filling in as the director for this practice, but I think after we got comfortable with each other, I was able to make the group focus in and get better at specific parts. LeAnne and I hung out after practice, shopping at Target for stuff for my house. I got sheets for my bed and some other stuff. The sheets were SOOO soft, it’s amazing what 360 count cotton can do. I heated up some leftover pizza in my fridge for the two of us, and then LeAnne went home.
