March 14, 2004 – I spent my second night at Murphin Ridge Inn and this morning the sun had less of an impact on my getting out of bed. In fact, I didn’t wake up with the sun at 7 AM. It wasn’t until 8:30 that I woke up quickly, thinking I had overslept. The time it took to get showered and dressed put me at the breakfast table with most people. This morning’s breakfast was pretty good. I wasn’t too into the sausage or the peaches in the pancakes, but everything overall was good. When I was growing up and going to St. John Church in West Chester, the masses were always filled with tons of people. When I started going to mass at Bellermine Chappel, it was much smaller, but still several hundred people were at each mass. Today we had a mass with just the musicians from the church attending, since it was at our retreat. The feeling of only 17 people going through the ritual of a Catholic mass had a weird but reassuring feeling to it. Mass can sometimes feel like a social obligation rather than a spiritual invitation, but today it was different. I returned back to Cincinnati with a feeling of calmness. The rain during the drive tensed me up a bit, but once it subsided I felt calm again. I used the afternoon to move kitchen things from my house to my apartment. I also bought some stuff at Staples and Best Buy. For dinner, I cooked lasagna, and then drove up to Danielle Kenworthy’s house in West Chester. To conclude the night, I met up with Chris and Kavia at Sneaky Pete’s in Montgomery. We won 2 out of 3 billiards games.
