March 1, 2004 – The event of significance at work today was a meeting to talk about one of our customers and figure out how they keep ending up with ‘bad’ cable. They keep changing their minds on what they want, so we keep changing our specs to reflect what they want, and somehow they get old stock that hasn’t been made to their new specification, and we can’t seem to find a way to stop that from happening. After work is where my day really got exciting. The band director at UC was sick so he asked me to fill in as the director for the jazz band at practice tonite. I showed up and reviewed the scores to the songs they were working on, and then we rehearsed. I had some trouble going back and forth between scores that only gave the melody line and minor cues to the scores that had every single part listed. The students weren’t sure at first if they should take me seriously, but when I started things off and told them a few things, they started taking me seriously, and it was a fairly productive rehearsal. My career as a director is now underway. LeAnne Carter and I went to dinner at Dewey’s pizza after the practice and then went back to my house to look at beds online for my new apartment. We found one that I liked a lot on some website, but as it turned out, they don’t ship to Cincinnati, so I had to find another option. LeAnne left before I could find another one that I liked as well. I eventually went to bed, moving my laptop to the floor so I could sleep.
