January 9, 2004 - Noteworthy activities today were lunch with a lot of lab people plus my co-op at Arby's followed by some post-lunch basketball in the warehouse of my office. I didn't end up leaving work until about 5:45 PM. On the way out I left a message with LeAnne that I was going to stop by her house and pick her up for dinner, but when I got there she was not around. She called me when I got back to my house and told me that she was just getting out of work. They had a party to commemorate Elvis's birthday (actually January 8th, he would have been 69 yesterday) which went into overtime. LeAnne came over and we drove to the bank so I could deposit my tuition reimbursement check and get money for the weekend. I gave LeAnne directions to Hyde Park Square. We ate dinner at the Vineyard Cafe. Before dinner, they sent us over to the Wine Room, which is a wine bar connected to their restaurant. I had never seen, been in, or even heard of this place before. It was pretty swanky. I had a glass of wine but didn't finish it before the hostess from the restaurant came over and told us that our table was ready. Dinner was awesome. I had the avocado crusted chicken for at least the 4th time, and this time was the best. They removed the vegetables from the plate, which was a good move, in my opinion. LeAnne took me home and then Josh and I drove up to the Mad Frog to watch Homonculus play. We actually got there in time to see the first of three bands. Every band sounded pretty good. We stayed until the very last song and then drove home in the bitter cold.
