January 5, 2004 - It doesn't quite seem like 2004 yet. I'm still having trouble dealing with the fact that this is post-1999, when the world was supposed to end. All the computers were going to lock up, terrorists were going to attack, the world was going to be swallowed up, something major was going to cause the world to end. Now it is 4 years later and the economy is on the rise, I'm working full time and having a pretty good life, but I am not really meeting any women that interest me, or any that share an interest in me. My co-op starts today. I told him to show up to work at 8:30 so that I would have about half an hour to get things going when I showed up after my 2 week vacation, but he was there when I got in, leaving me with no time to get prepared. We did some training and I tried my best to keep him busy during the morning. The lab also got a lot of new co-op's, so we all went out to lunch at Frisch's. There were 9 of us altogether (2 guys, 7 girls, the perfect ratio). After work (I left at 5:45 PM, with a million things still to do), I found Barb Egan online and asked if she wanted to meet up for dinner. We met up on Colerain Avenue, halfway between her place and mine, at the Steak and Shake. Dinner was tasty but the fries and sandwich were a mess. Barb lost her frog in a terrible accident the previous night (ok, it wasn't terrible, it just died for some unknown reason), so we drove across the street to a pet store to see if they had any frogs. There were none that appealed to her. I returned home and found Josh sitting around with not much going on. He was easy to convince to help me return my sisters car to her apartment in Reading. On the way back we stopped in at my cousin's apartment and watched an episode of Family Guy. He offered us some Miller Lites which we accepted. Josh and I agreed that Miller Lite is not that great of a beer. I used to drink it at Fisher Effect practice and must have been desensitized to it or something, but upon this occasion, after having drank a fair share of Ybor Gold's in the past few weeks, found it to be very dissatisfying. Returning home, I did some cleaning and talking on the phone until it was time to go to bed.
