January 30, 2004 - Today was like a vacation day, but it went by quickly. I worked until about 4:30 PM and then Shannon Woodsmall from the travel center at my office brought me to the airport. She leaves work early on Friday's and lives in the general direction of the airport so it was a good match. When we got to the airport, she came in and we had a beer at one of the bars. My flight was delayed leaving Cincinnati into Chicago. Eventually my flight took off, long after Shannon left, and I ran from the airplane to my next gate to catch a flight to San Diego. I barely made it to the gate in time. They had actually shut the door, but let me get on. When I arrived in San Diego it was pretty nice outside. The temperature was in the upper 50's. I had just come from -6 in Chicago, and near freezing in Cincinnati. This is going to be a fun weekend. I got my rental car (the ride to the rental place from the airport was like riding in a NYC cab) and found my hotel. At this point it was nearly midnite (3 AM on the East Coast), so I was ready for bed.
