January 23, 2004 - WOrk was relatively uneventful today, if you don't count getting apologized to by a vice president, and finding out that I don't have to move to New Hampshire. First, on the VP issue: yesterday I got a rather rude email from a VP who thought I was doing things beyond my job description, and felt it necessary to tell many people via email about this. Today when I showed up, he had issued a retracting email and commended me on my good work. That was good. Also, few of my friends have been told directly by me, but my company was considering moving me to Manchester, NH, so that I could work closer with the manufacturing plant. This decision was initially told to me back in late October. Since then my social life has been on hold while I waited it out. Today they told me that I am definitely not moving, but my boss is. It will be interesting to see how this unfolds. I met Tara B for lunch at Arby's, and then followed that up with some basketball in the warehouse with people from the lab. Then the rest of the day was cake, finding people chairs, eating pizza, and whatnot. I drove to Barb's apartment in Oxford. All of her roommates were around, and so were their boyfriends, and a few other random people. We watched Clerks and played cards, and drank. I only had 3 beers, but since it was 3:30 AM when everything wound down, I stayed the night on Barb's couch.
