January 19, 2004 - I woke up to a combination of having to go to the bathroom, being hot, hearing one of my neighboring rooms shower running, and some kind of thumpy bass music playing just loud enough to hear. I put off getting out of bed as long as possible, but eventually I had to get out of bed. I dressed partially and then went down to the lobby to get free breakfast. Today I had no trouble making a waffle, since I had experience from yesterday. Again there were no seats so I brought my food up to the room and ate while watching TV. Eventually I got around to showering and checked out of the hotel. My luck started with the bus showing up about two minutes after I sat down at the bus stop. The ride was quick, in part due to little traffic because of the holiday (MLK Day), and in part due to the book I was reading. I finished up my book on Frank Lloyd Wright. I'm glad I read it. I didn't know anything about the guy other than the fact that he had designed some buildings. Now I have a pretty good knowledge of his style and can see in buildings things that he may have been influencial in popularizing. The time at the airport was pretty boring. First thing, I bought a new book to replace my recently finished book. I picked up The Oddysey by Homer at a book store and then read some of it. My flight wasn't going to be for at least two more hours, and I wouldn't get home until after 6 PM, so I needed to get lunch now if I wanted to eat lunch today. There was a Mexican restaurant in the airport which I gave a chance. Their taco was weird. In addition to having some kind of bean stuff in it (which I scraped out), it also had chunks of potato. Totally weird! Chris Kreitel picked me up in Cincinnati and drove me home. Tom Crookham came home shortly after I got home. We had dinner at home and then I sat around catching up with friends online.
