January 12, 2004 - A monday back at work...I got a lot done. I was at work until 5. I didn't feel much motivation to stick around into the bonus today so I left and went home. For dinner I made a frozen pizza, and then I went to UC to teach some jazz. Dr Frenz got me involved with the extra sax players who want to do jazz band. I taught a few of them about the mixolydian scale, and then we worked on the twelve bar blues progression. I worked through a few songs, and by the time I asked what time they got done with band, it was actually time to stop. I was surprised with how much I know and have to share. It was fun teaching because I could tell that I was a lot more interested in doing a good job teaching than many teachers I've ever had in my life. It is rare to find a teacher that really knows their stuff and cares enough to do a good job (same with most any job, I guess). When I got home I made notes about what I covered and came up with ideas of what I want to do next week. Today I also purchased a ticket to San Antonio for this coming Saturday. I will be staying there through Monday. It will be a fun but short vacation. My plan is to take a lot of photos.
