February 5, 2004 - In the morning we had the bi-weekly Carol Business meeting. Things flowed very well today. I am going to claim responsibility for its smoothness because I added to our meeting minutes a list of action items in a very obvious format. After the meeting I made lunch plans to go to Penn Station with some guys in the automotive group. We ate lunch later than my usual time but I was fine with that. Penn Station rocks! The rest of the day went by fairly quickly. Somewhere in the middle we tried to convince someone at work to get ice cream for us, but that fell through. At 4:30 I got a call from a realtor who was returning my inquiry about seeing a house. He said he had a cancellation and could take me to see it right then. I agreed and at 5 left to meet him. The house was over on the West Side in Price Hill. There were a few issues with this place. It was really cool in the fact that it was big and had lots of awesome woodwork, a couple Rookwood fireplaces, and lots of character. Unfortunately it was not in great condition. The price was $150,000 and needed probably $10,000 of serious work done before I would want to move in. That's way beyond my limit of spending. Also, the pipes in the basement were leaking right where the water comes into the house. It appeared to have started not too long ago, and was no doubt due to the house being so cold. The realtor wanted to show me another house. This one was even further on the West Side, but still in Price Hill. The house was huge. A two family with a 5 car unattached garage, lots of awesome wood work similar to the house I live in right now. A major problem with this is that the house had been broken into and several windows were completely busted. This house was much more reasonably priced ($120,000), but needed a good $15,000 worth of work before I would consider moving in. I drove back to work after touring these houses. Roman Lupinek and I got dinner at Burger King and then went back to work. We're both sticking around after work until the soccer game tonite. The game isn't until 10 PM. Around 8:45 we started kicking the soccer ball around the office. There was definitely not enough room to play and we learned this quickly. We left for the soccer game and it was another defeat for our team. I was at home by 11:30 and didn't get showered until after midnite. Then I stayed up a while longer looking at houses online.
