February 4, 2004 - Today was supposed to be an awesome day. It was awesome up until about 7:30 PM when I got home. Leading up to that was a full day of work (if full means working til 4 PM), then going to Covington to have a home inspected. This house is so awesome. I reconfirmed my interest while I was there. The owner said they didn't have any outstanding offers they were considering, so I scheduled an inspection for today. The inspection crew was great. They took me through the house and showed me all the stuff that I should be aware of. While I was there, Kevin Briney came by and checked out the house to give me some advice. I also talked to a guy named Damion who owned three properties next door and had actually gutted and renovated the property I was considering purchasing. Everything was very positive. Then I got home and first thing the phone rang. I answered and it was the secretary for the home owner, informing me that while I was at that house they received an offer and accepted it. Not only did this mean I just wasted $265 on a home inspection, but I also would not get to buy the house or even make an offer, since they accepted the offer that was already made. This was horrible. My only hope now is that the couple purchasing it backs out and then I can bid. Tonite is Zuzanna's last night in Cincinnati. I gave her a hug goodbye and then spent the evening looking at houses online. I need to find one to buy. There are a few that are moderately interesting to me but I can't find one that I really like as much as that Covington house. I made calls to realtors to set up appointments but since it was well after hours I just left messages. What a bummer of a day.
