February 3, 2004 - A normal Tuesday was mixed up when I ate lunch at Goldstar Chili. Goldstar is not nearly as good as Skyline, and frankly I don't particularly like either lately. I got burnt out on Skyline a few years back by eating there just about every week. Today is the day of the Skyline Chili Cross-town Shoot-Out basketball game between the University of Cincinnati and Xavier University. Eating at Goldstar is probably a punishable crime for today. Nevertheless, I ate there with Alben and Kim. There is a distinct difference between eating at Skyline versus eating at Goldstar. When at Goldstar, people I eat with usually complain about how Skyline is too runny rather than saying that Goldstar is just better. When at Skyline, the conversation is always that Skyline is better than Goldstar. It is a similar but subtle difference. The day continued on with me working until 5:20 PM or so. I drove to Walgreens, purchased a lock, and then drove to NKU to get some exercise. First I ran around the track in the gym (using my new lock to keep my stuff in a locker), and then I went down and changed from my running shoes to my racquetball shoes to play Carl Wetterhan in a few games of racquetball. I won both games by a good margin and then left quickly towards my house. I showered and drove up to my brother-in-law's house to watch The Game. I brought beer, he ordered a pizza. Everything was good in life, until UC decided that it didn't want to score any more points and Xavier managed a meager victory over UC. The problem with Xavier is that they seem to only really step up their play for this game. Their team should be ranked in the top 10 right now but they aren't winning games. Somehow, they manage to beat a ranked UC team year after year, but can't pull their act together for the rest of the season. After the game I went home and, feeling tired, went to bed kind of early.
