March 5, 2003 - Waking up is hard to do...they had the song all wrong when they sung "Breaking up is hard to do". I was able to get a shower and shave in time but the morning fog in my head caused me to forget to put Kavia's purse in my car on the way to work. Because of this I had to drive home at lunch to grab it. I had told Kavia that I would drop it off at Vanessa Lee's later that evening and I didn't want to fail on my mission. Forgetting about the purse was actually a mixed blessing because at my house I checked the mail before heading back to work and discovered that my Opening Day Reds tickets had arrived! There they were, 4 pristine tickets to the first game that will be played in Great American Ballpark (minus the exhibition games). Getting the tickets made my day. Don't get me wrong, I'm certainly not a die hard Reds fan, but I do attend a few games each year and the opportunity to go to Opening Day is reserved for only 45,000 fans this year due to the new smaller stadium. Back at work I conducted my second interview ever. Everything went well and Alben, Jen, and I decided on who to extend an offer to based on the two interviews during the week. Once this was done I didn't have much time to get work done because I had a meeting at 5:30 to be at in Blue Ash. I attended a travel presentation. It was quite possibly the biggest waste of my time. I was put into a small office with a salesman who's job was to convince me that spending $10,000 with them on the opportunity to go on 20 vacations over the next 10 years was a good idea. The thing they didn't realize was that 1. I am frugal with my travel money 2. I was a math minor which enabled me to follow all the garbage they were spitting out. By the end of the 1 hour presentation I had 4 separate people try to sell me various programs, each costing less than the previous, in hopes that they would be able to pull in a commission. What I walked away with was a piece of paper that I need to fill out and mail in to claim a 3 day vacation in the Bahamas (air and hotel included) for 2 people. I guess I'll check it out, since it only costs me a postage stamp. My drive to Vanessa's from Blue Ash was perfectly timed. I arrived at her doorstep at 7 PM just as I had told her. We went out to LaRosa's for dinner (today is Ash Wednesday so no meat for me) and then back to her place. She showed me her pictures from Hawaii and we chatted for a bit. Then I headed home, only to get stuck in traffic on 75 South for 25 minutes.
