March 24, 2003 - I made an unusual move today, straying from my recent history of waiting until the last minute to get out of bed. I actually was out of the shower by 7:35 today rather than jumping into the shower at 7:35. What a monumental move! Work went pretty slowly. At 10 AM I attended a meeting where I didn't say very much and it was apparent that I didn't really need to be there in order for the things to get done that needed to get done. Lunchtime came right around 11:55 AM when I drove out to Pride Park in Taylor Mill, KY to play a round of disc golf. I like playing lunch time disc golf because it gets me out into the sun and I get some exercise. The rest of the work day I spend at a desk with no windows facing my computer monitor for 8 hours which just isn't conducive to getting a tan or staying in shape. Maybe I should get one of those abdominal workout things that you wear while you sit at a desk and in 6 weeks you have a 6-pack. Actually it would probably be easier to just buy a mini-fridge and stock it with beer under my desk. Janet spent the weekend in Illinois at her parents house and was on her way back to Cincinnati, returning around 5 PM today. I drove up to her condo after work and we rollerbladed around the lake at Winton Woods. Neither of us were particularly hungry so I called up Josh at my house and he said that he and Jake Mecklenborg wanted to go to dinner (he suggested the Cactus Pear). I knew how much money I had in my wallet and I countered with Zips Cafe. Zips is recognized as the best hamburger place in Cincinnati. Located in Mount Lookout it has a prime location to some of the most affluent people in Cincinnati that reside in Hyde Park. However, the price is strangely low for a non-chain hamburger place. I drove Janet back to my house and we picked up Josh and Jake and drove to Zips. Dinner was great and everyone else seemed to like it too. I couldn't believe that none of them had ever been to Zips before. It is a Cincinnati institution! Jake called up Kavia and we met up with Kavia Gowda, Chris Kreitel, Jason, and Sara down at the Rock Bottom Brewery. We stayed there for a while but I didn't have anything to drink because I was driving. Then around 11 PM we headed home. Janet stuck around for a while and we had good conversation until I took her home at 1 AM. I guess it is going to a rough day at work tomorrow.
