March 23, 2003 - I don't understand what is going on. Here it is a Sunday and I should be sleeping in until noon. For some crazy reason I am awake at 9:30. I went down the hall to Josh's room and peeked in and he was having relations with Suzanna so I quickly closed the door and moved back into the living room to watch some TV. TV wasn't entertaining me so I got dressed and drove to Busken Bakery in Hyde Park. I picked up a dozen donuts and drove back to my house. After eating 2 of them and offering some to Josh and Suzanna I decided that it was too great of a day to be sitting around. I looked up on the internet how to get to Mt Echo Park. I have heard great things about the overlook in Mt Echo Park but I had never been there. It is a west side park and I usually spend my time on the east side. I didn't have any trouble finding the park. It was about 11 AM when I got there. The park was pretty much empty other than a couple of kids who were trying to do rail slides on the concrete and using a video camera to record their 'stunts'. I really hate seeing people railslide because it makes the concrete look horrible. I wanted to just go over and push the kids off their skateboards to teach them a lesson but I held back. Instead I took a bunch of pictures in the park and then decided to drive around town. On my way towards downtown I spotted a great location for taking a picture of my clean car. After the picture I drove down River Road and something got lodged in my right rear tire. I had my windows down and could hear this repetitious clicking sound so I knew it couldn't be anything good. When I got down to Bicentennial Commons I pulled over and sure enough there was a piece of metal imbedded in my tire. I pulled it out and was afraid that I would hear the sound of air rushing out of the tire. Luckily it didn't do any obvious damage so that is good. I'll have to wait and see if it caused a slow leak. The tire incident bummed me out but I was still in the mood to take pictures. I crossed the Taylor-Southgate Bridge into Kentucky and drove around down towards Ludlow. In Ludlow I found a street called View Lane. Sure enough, at the end of the street was an incredible view of the city. I didn't get out to take any pictures but it was worth checking it out. At this point I decided that there was enough time before I had to leave for my band concert to rollerblade around the lake at Eden Park. In the park I skated around the lake 10 times, which was quite a jump from my previous best of 7 laps. I wasn't even really tired but I knew that I had to get home and take a shower so that I could 'start' the day. When I got home there was an instant message on my computer from LeAnne Carter. She said to call her, so I did. We decided to get together for some lunch before the band concert that both of us will be playing in later in the afternoon. I showered and was in West Chester at 1:40 PM. We had to be at the concert by 2:30 PM and it is in Middletown at Miami-Middletown Campus. LeAnne was kind of slow getting moving (as usual) so by the time we got in our cars it was not looking like we were going to have time to eat. I followed LeAnne up to the school and we were both really hungry so she hopped in my car and we quickly got some Burger King. We wolfed down the food in my car and then went into the auditorium with about 10 minutes to spare before concert time. This was plenty of time to get warmed up and out on stage. The concert went well. My mom was there and she brought a few friends, Aunt Hilda and Mrs. Egan. I drove to church right after the concert and had enough time to get warmed up on the flugelhorn before most of the group showed up. From church I went home and Jake Mecklenborg was there. He rode into town with my cousin Chris Kreitel and will be staying at my house for the next few days while on spring break. Jake and I got dinner at Frischs down by the $28 motel and White Castle. I had a Big Boy and fries with a Vanilla Coke - the classic Frischs meal. Then Jake and I went downtown and walked around the stadium to take some night pictures. I got a few good pictures. The stadium looks great at night. When I got home I called Janet and we talked on the phone for a while and then it was time to go to bed.
