February 1, 2003 - The night was pretty horrible to me. I made the mistake of eating White Castle before we left which caused two things to happen: I wasn't able to sleep in the van until about 5 am & also the White Castle turned completely into gas. It is amazing how those innocent looking burgers can ruin a night. Dating tip #1: Never eat White Castle in the presence of a female. At 9:30 am we arrived at Josh Speakmans place. I realized that I didn't have his phone number and luckily I had printed up directions right to his house so we had his street address. He didn't answer the door so we figured he was out already (we hadn't told Josh what time we were arriving). Josh and I ate breakfast at Burger King in the ghetto portion of Savannah. It was quite a treat. I brought a total of $10 for the trip because Josh said he had cash and didn't want to stop at the ATM for me the night before. He bought me some hash brown chip thingies. Then we drove back to Speakmans and this time he answered the door. Apparently he was there before but he couldn't hear the door so he didn't answer. Anyway, we ended up getting a great tour of all of historic Savannah by Josh, including the riverfront, the parks, the squares, everything to do with "Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil", and the Catholic Cathedral. It was all amazing. I love the oak trees with the Spanish moss on them. After lunch at 2 pm in a trolley car we drove to Tybee Island to check out the beach. It was fun walking on the beach, knowing that just 3 weeks prior I was on the other side of the country on the Pacific Ocean. After tossing the Frisbee in windy beach conditions and taking pictures we stopped at a liquor store to get some stuff. I got a bottle of wine and a bottle of Watermelon Pucker. Then we went to Fort Pulaski as it was closing and got to see a little bit of it. I took some pictures and then we left. Back at home Josh and Josh played DDR on his Playstation 2 and then we went out to meet some of Josh's friends for bowling. I bowled best in our group and 3rd best overall in a group of about 18. After bowling we drove to Josh's friend Aaron's place. At this point Josh Stromberg was pretty drunk, I was a little drunk and Josh Speakman had nothing in his system. The night wore on and Stromberg ended up sitting on the floor practically passed out from tiredness and drunkenness. What a great nite in Savannah!
